Lesson Notes September 9, 2025 (Elementary)

Words & Phrases

  • I went to a rooftop bbq, and there was a jacuzzi.

    • The barbecuer did a really good job.

    • I drank too much. (The verb ‘drink - drank - drunk’)

  • The doctor is an internist. (= a doctor that specializes in internal medicine, rather than surgery)

  • From Ebisu station to the Garden Place there is a moving walkway.

  • The mall has everything, it’s very convenient there. (NOT there is convenience)

Everyday Numbers

Section 4

  • Teen numbers → stress on the second syllable (thirteen)

  • Tens → stress on the first syllable (thirty)

Section 6

  • His birthday is the fourteenth of November, nineteen eighty-five.

    • His birthday is November fourteenth, nineteen eighty-five.

  • When we have a ‘0’ in telephone numbers we can say zero or ‘o’ (oʊ)
