Perennial plant (noun) (pəˈrɛ.ni.əl / pe-REN-ni-al) = a plant that lives for more than two years, growing and blooming each season before going dormant and returning again

Hostas are hardy perennial plants that come back every year.
He prefers perennial plants because they require less replanting.
