Today, the new pope, Leo XIV, was elected.
The papal election mattered a lot to Catholics, but most people around the world didn’t think much of it.
The wind is blowing strongly right now, I can hear it.
“The wind is blowing really hard right now—I can hear it.” (more casual and natural in everyday speech; using “hard” is more common in spoken English than “strongly” when referring to wind)
That is an overly simplistic view of geopolitics.
We planned our own trip to Austria, but the Croatia trip is a group tour.
‘Private trip’ isn’t wrong, but there are more natural phrases in English
“We planned the trip ourselves.”
“It’s just a personal trip.”
“It’s not a tour, it’s a trip we organized.”
“We’re travelling on our own, not with a group.”
