Words & Phrases

  • It’s been 30 years since Eugene Boudin’s last exhibition in Japan.

    • He has an interesting style where two-thirds of the canvas is just sky.

  • Did you get lost going to the Sampo Museum in Shinjuku?

    • Shinjuku station is like a maze these days.

  • Demolish (verb) = To completely pull down, tear down, or destroy a structure, building, or idea.

    • They are going to demolish the old shopping mall next month and build row housing instead.

    • The earthquake was strong enough to demolish several brick homes.

  • The rise of online fast fashion retailers has made it incredibly easy to buy a brand-new outfit for less than the price of a restaurant meal.

  • When I moved into this new house, I got rid of a lot of dishes I no longer wanted.

    • "Get rid of” = to throw away, donate, or discard things you don't need anymore.
