Words & Phrases

Water (verb) = to pour water on plants or soil
Please water the plants every morning.
She watered the garden in the evening.
My friend and I went to Ikegami Plum Garden to see the ume blossoms.
I think it’s also a hydrangea garden later in the year.
Shabby (adjective) = worn out, old, or in poor condition
He wore a shabby old coat.
The hotel room looked shabby and neglected.
Appropriate Language
Seasonings = general word for flavour additions
salt & pepper, herbs, spices, sauces
Spices = plant-based flavour ingredients
pepper, cinnamon, cumin, turmeric
Condiments = table sauces
ketchup, mustard, soy sauce, mayonnaise, hot sauce
