Words & Phrases

• I have a sweet tooth, so it wasn’t as sweet as I expected.

• My grandson wanted to ride the Flying Dinosaur roller coaster. It was awful but fun.

• During the Harry Potter ride we didn’t know what would happen.

• There are eight places at USJ that you can use your magic wand.

• I have Voldemort’s wand, a small character toy of him, and a Slytherin hand towel.

• I saw my other grandchildren in Osaka and had dinner together.

• My granddaughter goes to an international school. Wednesday was a national holiday, but she had to go to school. (‘had to’ = obligation in the past / ‘national holiday’ = a public holiday)

• Where would you like to go someday? (‘someday’ = a time in the future)

• My husband is planning a trip a four week trip to France and Spain for us.

• We booked a package tour through Spain.

Appropriate Language

Group tour

• A group tour usually means you travel with other people who booked the same trip. You follow a fixed schedule and move together as a group.

• You go on a group tour.

• “We went on a group tour to Europe.”

• You join a group tour.

• “She joined a group tour for senior travellers.”

• You book a group tour.

• “We booked a group tour through a travel agency.”

Package tour / package holiday

• A package tour means flights, hotel, and sometimes meals and sightseeing are included in one price.

• You book a package tour.

• “We booked a package tour to Hawaii.”

• You go on a package tour.

• “They went on a package tour during Golden Week.”
