Lesson Notes August 25, 2026 (Vocabulary Building)

Words & Phrases

• She can write hiragana, but sometimes she flips some characters.

  • Little kids will write some letters backwards, like “b” and “d”.

• My daughter and daughter-in-law are like night and day. (= they are like opposites)

• Look closely at the packaging, that might be for pets not babies.

• Stroller (Noun) = A small vehicle with wheels pushed by a person, designed for carrying a baby, young child, or small pet safely.

  • She put her baby in the stroller and went for a walk in the park.

  • Many people put their older dogs in a pet stroller so they can still go outside.

Life in the country

• Putting "I still do" at the end makes your feeling sound strong and true today.

  • Long sentence: "I loved the scenery and the fresh air." (tells a story about the past)

  • Short sentence: "I still do." (adds strong feeling about today)

• Tree(s) / leaf (leaves) / branch (branches) / plant (plants) / root (roots)

  • Only grass and ground are uncountable

• Barley (noun) ˈbɑːrli / BAR-lee
