Words & Phrases
Do you have an allergy to cypress trees?
I’ve always wondered how many people might have an allergy to cherry blossoms.
There is a bad (cold / bug) going around with a lot of people complaining about fever. (= many people are catching it)
I’d love to go for a walk, but I’m feeling a bit under the weather today.
The lifeguard immediately began CPR after pulling the unconscious swimmer from the pool, continuing until the paramedics arrived.
Many workplaces now require their employees to take a first aid course and learn how to perform CPR correctly.
Appropriate Language
CPR (noun) (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) = It involves chest compressions and often rescue breathing to keep oxygenated blood flowing to the brain and other vital organs.
“Cardio-” is Greek for “heart”, “-pulmonary” is Latin for “lungs”, and “resuscitation” is Latin for “revive”
AED (noun) (Automated External Defibrillator)
The Weather
“the sun comes out” means “appear, usually after being cloudy”, similar words are also used when talking about sunrise (comes up) and sunset (goes down)
Heavy + (rain / snow / fog), opposite light + (rain / snow/ fog)
It poured (with) rain this afternoon.
