Words & Phrases
The hotel used to be a prison. Each room was converted from several prison cells.
Jail; sentence usually short time, people found guilty of minor crimes, often small local facility.
Prison; sentence usually long time (including “life”), found guilty of serious crimes, larger facility run by the state.
Thailand has amazing street food. There is everything from street cooking to busy markets.
Life in the country
The utilities in the country are often worse than in the city. (= gas, electricity, water and sewage, internet etc)
Were you connected to city water or did you have a well?
One disadvantage is that local shops often closed or go bankrupt.
It was about a 30 minute walk to the station from my house.
