Words & Phrases
I didn’t go swimming today, there are no classes on holidays.
Where are your family graves? (“Graveyard” usually means a whole cemetery, not a single family’s graves.)
There are three (cemeteries / graveyards) around this area.
I visit my family’s graves twice a year, usually around the equinoxes.
Storage space (noun) = an area, room, or container used to keep items safely or neatly when not in use
Does your new house have enough storage space?
I think that most new houses have more than enough space for storage.
After dinner my husband retires to his room. (“Retire to” means to go to a place to rest or be alone.)
Are most of the volunteers in your group former teachers?
I tutor a young boy in math one on one. (Here we use ‘tutor’ as a verb)
I hired a tutor to help my son improve his math skills. (Here we used ‘tutor’ as a noun)
Appropriate Language
Graveyard / Cemetery
Graveyard = a burial place that is next to a church, shrine, temple etc, often smaller and older.
That old graveyard is behind the church.
Cemetery = a burial place that is not next to a church, usually bigger and more modern.
My grandparents are buried in the local cemetery.
Teacher / Tutor
A teacher is someone who teaches a group of students in a school or class.
Our teacher encouraged us to ask questions during class.
A tutor is someone who helps one student or a small group to study, often individually, and gives extra help.
The tutor met with the students twice a week for extra lessons.

‘Aware of’ means you know or notice something exists.
I was aware of the construction on my street.
‘Conscious of’ means you notice something carefully or are paying attention to it.
When I go shopping I am conscious of the prices of goods.
