Words & Phrases

  • I’ve never seen that family name before, so I didn’t know how to read it properly. (We only use “meet” when talking about people or sometimes situations)

    • He looks like a nice old man. He’s known in his neighbourhood. (= he is neighbourly)

  • There are 10 flowers in each bouquet.

    • The quality from the wholesalers is really good, but the price point is high.

  • Depending on their reaction, a lesson can be made or broken.

    • If I see excitement or disappointment on their faces, can change how I feel about the lesson.

  • Some of the articles in the magazine take up a lot of pages.

    • One of the people in the article is a movie critic.
