Words & Phrases
I went to see a calligraphy exhibit by my friend.
I ran into a friend. (‘Run into’ means to meet someone by chance, not planned.)
The price of vending machine drinks is around ¥200 nowadays.
The supermarket where I buy coffee beans is raising its prices. There was a sign recommending customers buy in bulk before the price increase. (Bulk (noun) means buying or handling large quantities)
In China, from October 1st to 8th is National Day, and it’s a public holiday.
One (whole / entire) building is a shopping centre. The other one are offices and restaurants.
The station is so wide. You can see right across it.
From the cafe you can see people and trains coming and going.
Self-sufficient (adjective) = able to provide for oneself without needing help from others; independent in resources or abilities

Appropriate Language
Cursive writing (noun) = a style of handwriting in which the letters are connected, usually for faster or more fluid writing
She learned cursive writing in primary school.
Cursive writing can be faster than printing each letter separately.
Block writing (noun) = a style of handwriting in which each letter is written separately and in capital or clear printed form
The form must be filled out in block writing.
He prefers block writing when addressing envelopes.
