Words & Phrases

The dentist repaired my chip quickly with dental cement.

I really liked the ending of the movie.
He’s doing well under the current circumstances.
“the current circumstances” = general situation around him (used more often in news or neutral statements).
“his current circumstances” = more personal focus, emphasizing his unique situation.
Metastasise (verb); To spread from the original site to other parts of the body, especially in reference to cancer.
The cancer had metastasised to her lungs.
Doctors were concerned that the tumour might metastasise quickly.
Early detection is key before the disease can metastasise.
Grammar
“I hope the war ends soon.”
This uses the present simple after “hope”, which is common and natural in everyday speech.
It’s neutral and expresses a general wish for the near future.
“I hope the war will end soon.”
This uses the future with “will” after “hope”, which adds more emphasis on the future aspect.
It can sound a bit more formal or thoughtful.
Appropriate Language
Middle (noun / adj); The part that is equally far from both sides, ends, or edges. Often used with time, order, or general location.
I woke up in the middle of the night.
He stood in the middle of the road.
The chocolate is hidden in the middle of the cake.
Centre (noun / verb); The exact middle point of something; also used to describe an important place of activity or a building/place. Used more for locations, geometrical shapes, or focus points.
The statue is in the centre of the park.
Tokyo is the business centre of Japan.
