Words & Phrases

  • The day before the rose festival I helped setup

    • A couple of weeks before Christmas we always setup our Christmas tree.

    • Did you setup any decorations for Golden Week holidays?

  • The sales at the rose festival were the best ever! (= My group made the most money in our history)

  • The concert (was / lastedfor) 6 hours.

    • The copyright for the song expired. Now, anyone can record their own version and perform it.

  • My friend’s partner is a huge fan of the Giants.

    • We were sitting in the outfield seats with a lot of huge Giant fans!

    • The (beer / popcorn / peanuts / soda/ delivery / IT) guy

      • Here “guy” is a gender-neutral term, however “- (girl / lady)” is also possible.

  • I enjoyed watching the K-9 demonstration on the base.

    • The ‘Gaijin’ Triple Cheese and Patty Burger was ¥2000.

    • We could go into the air craft hangar to escape the sun and heat.
