Words & Phrases
Did you get a perm or is your hair naturally wavy?
Fray (verb) = To become worn or thin at the edges, causing the threads to pull apart and hang loose.
My straw hat is starting to fray around the edges.
The bottom of my jeans began to fray because they were too long and rubbed on the ground.
I didn’t tie the end of the rope, so it frayed very quickly.
I went crazy at the bookstore buying picture books for my grandkids.
Skewer (noun / verb)
(Noun) A long, thin piece of metal or wood used to hold pieces of food together while cooking.
I put the prawns on skewers before cooking them in the fish grill.
(Verb) To push a long, thin object through something.
Can you skewer the prawns for me while I prepare the salad?
