Lesson Notes March 24, 2026 (TUESDAY ZOOM)

Words & Phrases

  • How was the visit with your family? (We usually say “visit” rather than “meet”)

  • A lot of people start lining up at Disney around 6:30 in the morning to get on the attractions they really want to ride.

  • Have you been to many amusement parks when you were younger? (= places like Disney, USJ, Yomiuriland etc)

  • I always imagine what accidents might happen when I go on rollercoasters.

  • I’ve heard that there is an emergency panel with water, blankets and a emergency toilet.

    • I got trapped in an elevator, luckily someone heard my cries. (= shouts or screams) (We would only use “crying” if you are shedding tears)

  • My dentist told me to chew on the opposite side of my mouth so I don’t break the temporary tooth he gave me. (NOT “bite”)

  • My husband looks old, so he might be an easy target for pickpockets.

    • He is not aware of his surroundings.

    • He lacks common sense when travelling.

Appropriate Language

  • Doctor (noun) - treats people who are sick or injured

  • Dentist (noun) - treats diseases and conditions in the mouth, including the teeth and gums

  • Veterinarian (noun) - treated diseased or injured animals. (Often shortened to “vet”)
