Words & Phrases
How was the visit with your family? (We usually say “visit” rather than “meet”)
A lot of people start lining up at Disney around 6:30 in the morning to get on the attractions they really want to ride.
Have you been to many amusement parks when you were younger? (= places like Disney, USJ, Yomiuriland etc)
I always imagine what accidents might happen when I go on rollercoasters.
I’ve heard that there is an emergency panel with water, blankets and a emergency toilet.
I got trapped in an elevator, luckily someone heard my cries. (= shouts or screams) (We would only use “crying” if you are shedding tears)
My dentist told me to chew on the opposite side of my mouth so I don’t break the temporary tooth he gave me. (NOT “bite”)
My husband looks old, so he might be an easy target for pickpockets.
He is not aware of his surroundings.
He lacks common sense when travelling.
Appropriate Language
Doctor (noun) - treats people who are sick or injured
Dentist (noun) - treats diseases and conditions in the mouth, including the teeth and gums
Veterinarian (noun) - treated diseased or injured animals. (Often shortened to “vet”)
