Lesson Notes June 30, 2026 (Vocabulary Building)

Words & Phrases

  • I don't have any pain in my throat, just a hoarse voice. (= I don't have a sore throat)

  • Do you know what the official colours for home jerseys and away jerseys are?

  • Boys wore a skirts to classes in protest of the school insisting boys had to wear trousers during hot weather.

  • Barefoot (Adjective / Adverb) = Wearing nothing on the feet; without shoes or socks.

    • Some kids play soccer barefoot in the summer.

    • We kicked off our sneakers and (walked / went) barefoot along the cool, damp shoreline as the sun set.

  • When was the last time you got a (trim / haircut)?

    • I need my hair long for some events, so I only want a little trim.

    • Since my hair is short I sometimes use hair extensions. My daughter likes to use eyelash extensions.

Sea Creatures

  • Many types of fish and marine life do not change form in the plural.

  • Salmon

  • Trout

  • Cod

  • Squid

  • Shrimp

Land Animals

  • Sheep

  • Deer

  • Moose

  • Bison

  • Buffalo
