Words & Phrases
When is your next performance? How many songs will you be on stage for? (The word “stage” as a noun is the physical wooden platform you stand on.
“Stage” as a verb means to organize, arrange, and present a performance, play, or public event.
“The high school drama class will stage a production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth.”
I saw a lot of untouched nature during my travels.
How was the climate? = (more natural) How was the weather?
How was the food?
One of our staff had a baby, so she’s on (maternity) leave for a year.
I’ve had practice every other day recently. (“one day on, one day off” = Monday practice, Tuesday none, Wednesday practice, Thursday none etc)
I went driving to Owakudani. Twenty years ago was my last visit.
My last visit was twenty years ago.
I haven't been there in twenty years.
Ropeway (Noun) = Synonyms: Cable car, aerial tramway, gondola lift, chairlift
We took the scenic (ropeway) to Owakudani and then down to the Lake Ashi.
There were not enough people to do the tour package. The package needed 10 people but there were only 4 people.
My voice sounds a little (nasally / nasal) since I had a slight head cold over the weekend. (= stuffed up, congested) (“Nasally” is an adverb but sometimes used casually)
