Words & Phrases

  • ChatGPT recommended moisture. I put a humidifier near it.

    • This plant needs indirect sunshine, not direct sunshine.

  • I picked up these little bulbs. I planted them in soil and now they are growing. I will plant them in my garden in spring.

  • Do you have shutters at home?

  • My friends came to visit. They drank heavily. (NOT they are heavy drunkards)

    • We use “drunkard” in the same way as “alcoholic”

  • The golfers autographed the hats and flags.

    • The golfers signed the hats and flags. (More casual)

Countable & Uncountable Nouns

Question 70.3

  • There isn’t any rice in the cupboard.

    • Cupboard (noun) ˈkʌb.ərd / KUB-erd (Synonym: cabinet)

Question 70.4

  • There is a bunch of banana on the counter.

    • Can you buy two bunches of grapes?

  • Flower and flour have the same pronunciation (flaʊə or flaʊər).

  • Carton (noun) is commonly used for milk, juice, eggs.

    • I bought a carton of orange juice.

    • We need a carton of eggs.
