Topic: Talking about Food and Drink

In this lesson, students will develop conversation skills by talking about shopping and eating habits. The lesson also focuses on countable and uncountable nouns.

Lesson Notes January 13, 2026 (Elementary)

Words & Phrases

  • There is a lot of protein in chicken. It’s good for your muscles.

    • How often does he go to the gym?

    • How long does he work out at the gym?

    • What is his routine at the gym?

      • Do you know his routine at the gym?

  • I went for sushi with my grandchildren. (We can use ‘for’ and food name in conversation)

    • Do you want to go for bubble tea after the lesson?

    • You should come over to my house for tea and cake.

    • I went out for burgers and drinks last weekend.

  • Was the pickled (radish / ginger) good?

  • He cleaned up ten plates and got a toy.

Countable & Uncountable Nouns

  • Common containers in English; there are many containers and counters we can use, here are a few

    • A cup of coffee.

    • A glass of water.

    • Two bottles of cranberry juice.

    • We opened a couple of cans of soup.

    • Can you buy a carton of milk?

    • My friend ate 12 plates of sushi!

    • We bought a small package of inari zushi.
