Topic: Talking about Food and Drink

In this lesson, students will develop conversation skills by talking about shopping and eating habits. The lesson also focuses on countable and uncountable nouns.

Lesson Notes February 10, 2026 (Elementary)

Words & Phrases

  • My glasses have some scratches on them.

    • Where do you usually buy your glasses?

  • How is your wrist doing?

    • The doctor said the bone is healing, but I should be careful for the next month.

  • I created a sticker using my image. (We use “sticker” not “stamp”)

Countable & Uncountable Nouns

  • A cob of corn.

    • Two cobs of corn.

  • I ate some scallops. (‘Scallops’ are countable)

  • When we use “fish,” it can be countable or uncountable

    • A whole living fish is countable, but it’s uncountable when used as food/meat.

    • The word “fish” stays the same in singular and plural (one fish / two fish etc)

    • Similar other animals include “sheep” and “deer"

  • I bought two bulbs of garlic.

    • I need three cloves of garlic.
