Words & Phrases

  • I’ve seen many more people wearing masks on the train and in supermarkets. ( “Many more people” shows an increase compared to before)

  • The senior (workshop / craft centre) makes small goods for children.

  • Some works of Picasso and Renoir are on loan at the museum.

    • The exhibition ends (September 9th / the 9th of September).

    • Picasso was influenced by Renoir and Cézanne.

  • After the war, the Emperor became a figurehead.

    • Figurehead (noun) = a person who holds an official position of leadership but has little real power or influence

  • Governments tend to stick their fingers in their ears when it comes to certain topics.
