Topic: Talking About Travel

In this lesson, students will develop vocabulary and conversation skills by talking about travel and focusing on Thailand.

Lesson Notes August 25, 2026 (Elementary)

Words & Phrases

• I aired out my futon. (= to refresh the fabric with fresh air and remove odours. We can use the base “air” as a verb, but using “air out” is most common)

  • I put my futon outside to air out.

• It’s so hot that I can’t think straight.

Short Dialogues

A: Have you finished reading that novel?
B: Yeah, not yet. I am still reading it. (= No, not yet.)

Often you will hear “Yeah, not yet”, this is casual, but you cannot say “Yes, not yet”

A: Are you going out tonight?
B: Yeah, no way. I am staying home.

C: The tour bus doesn’t pick you up at your hotel?
D: No, it doesn’t. (= agreeing) / Yes, it does. (= disagreeing) / Yeah, it (doesn’t / does) (= casual)

Travel

Section 2 Vocabulary

• Itinerary (noun) = a step-by-step schedule listing flight details, hotel bookings, and places to visit.

  • The travel agent sent us a detailed itinerary for our trip to Thailand.

  • On my second day, my itinerary says I can try to feed an Indian elephant.

• “Boarding card” can also be called “boarding pass”
