Words & Phrases

  • Pope Francis passed away on Monday evening.

    • The Pope is the spiritual leader of the Roman Catholic Church.

  • Easter is a Christian holiday. It celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christians believe Jesus died on a Friday (called Good Friday) and came back to life on Sunday (Easter Sunday).

  • How do people celebrate?

    • Many people go to church.

    • Families have special meals.

    • Children do Easter egg hunts — they look for eggs in the garden or house.

    • People give and eat chocolate eggs.

  • One of my friends converted to Christianity.

  • Baptism (noun); A Christian ceremony where a person is dipped in water or has water poured on them to show they have joined the faith.

  • Baptist (noun); A member of a Christian group that believes in baptizing people when they are old enough to choose it for themselves.

  • Cult (noun); A religious or social group with extreme beliefs or practices that are often considered unorthodox or dangerous.

    • The group was labeled a cult due to its secretive nature and control over its members.

    • Many people consider the practice to be a cult, given its unusual rituals and beliefs.

    • The cult leader convinced his followers to abandon their families and move to a remote area.
