Tokyo's skyline is largely shaped by the history of Tokyo. For the past 400 years Tokyo has gone through cycles of destruction, fire, flooding, earthquakes and war. The 20th century saw Tokyo in ruins twice, the Great Kanto earthquake of 1923 and the Bombing of Tokyo during World War II. It's from these events, and periods of economic prosperity that the current skyline of Tokyo is one of modern buildings and contemporary architecture.
I have a list of buildings in Tokyo that I've wanted to photograph, many of which are in areas that I haven't explored in my nine years here. The plan is when I go photograph a building I will also photograph the area within a radius equal to the height of the building. After each building and exploration I will upload the photographs I took to my journal and keep a record of each building on this project page.
