Words & Phrases

  • There’s a comfortable breeze blowing.

  • Skin doctor = dermatologist

    • I went to my skin doctor earlier today.

    • The dermatologist carefully shaves down the thick, hard skin with a scalpel.

  • One of my toes is crooked.

    • Crooked (adjective) ˈkrʊk.ɪd / CROOK-ed = not straight or aligned; bent, twisted

  • Sorry, my connection is really unstable today.

    • Her audio keeps (breaking up / choppy). (= when video or audio isn’t smooth, kind of stuttering)

  • Recently, the prize money for major sumo tournaments has increased.

  • I heard that he is a picky eater. He doesn’t like to eat a lot. (“Picky eater” means someone is careful or fussy about what they eat.)

  • His face looks (sunken / thin) recently. Is he okay? (“Sunken” means his face looks thinner or more tired than usual.)
