Lesson Notes March 31, 2026 (Vocabulary Building)

Words & Phrases

  • There is some weird noise like static coming from my speakers.

  • She had try sitting on the bottom of the pool, and keep her head under water.

    • She passed red octopus and is now in blue octopus.

The Weather

  • Synonyms for “wind”: breeze, gale, gust, draft

  • It’s been storming all day.

    • A bad storm blew in suddenly while we were having a picnic.

  • The "Plural" Rule for ZERO (Most Important)

    • Even though "zero" represents nothing, it is grammatically treated as a plural number.

    • Think of it like this: Any number that is not 1 usually takes a plural noun (0,1.5,2,10,etc.) (this also includes all the negative numbers)

    • The temperature will be zero degrees around lunchtime.

    • Today’s low will be negative one degrees Celsius.

    • Tomorrow’s high will be one degree Celsius.
