Topic: Smartphones

In this lesson, students will develop vocabulary and conversation skills by talking about their smartphones.

Lesson Notes June 23, 2026 (Elementary)

Words & Phrases

  • Alter (verb) = To change or modify something slightly, usually to make it better, fit properly

    • The seamstress needed to alter the sleeves of the jacket because they were a bit too long.

    • She would alter kimonos into dresses.

  • The exhibition (runs / is on display) until July 6.

    • The show is running until the end of August.

  • She brought the (food / ingredients) to make paella and cooked it here. (“Ingredients” sounds more natural here)

  • There was an incredibly long line at the Peace Gate on the lake.

    • It was a shame there was such a long line. I couldn’t take a photo.

  • If you swipe down from the top-right corner to open the Control Centre, you can tap on the plus sign ( + ) to enter edit mode. From there, you can tap 'Add a Control' or remove existing ones. You can also move the icons around to rearrange them.

  • The control with a solid dot inside a circle is the “screen recording” icon.
