Words & Phrases

  • If you follow the tunnel toward Shinjuku Chuo Park you’ll find a number of homeless people living along this area.

  • I thought that the people I saw were beggars, but they were just ordinary people.

  • I come from a family where everyone is really good at mathematics. However, that gene seems to have skipped me.

  • When I am shopping, I can usually guesstimate the amount. Sometimes the cashier makes a mistake, so I can catch it.

Grammar

  • “Casher” is common mistakes based on this pattern

    • Teach —> Teacher

    • Work —> Worker

    • Play —> Player

  • However, cashier actually comes to English from an old French word (caissier), which is why it keeps that unique "-ier" spelling and pronunciation
