Words & Phrases
Skellig Michael is famous for its ancient beehive huts and were featured in The Last Jedi (Star Wars movie).
There is also a large population of Atlantic puffins, a small seabird, on the island as well.
India Pale Ales (IPAs) came from British brewers in the 19th century, they added extra hops to beer as a natural preservative so it wouldn't spoil on long sea voyages to colonial India.
Pudding refers to heavy, boiled, steamed, or baked dishes, which can be sweet (like Christmas plum pudding) or strictly savoury (like Yorkshire pudding made from batter, or Black pudding, which is a type of blood sausage).
I bought some hand-knitted mitts in Ireland.
Animals & Insects
Section 2 Part C
1 An endangered species is at risk or under threat while an extinct species has already died out completely.
2 These are both types of animals. Mini-beasts can include insects and spiders (no backbone), while aquatic creatures are fish or any other type of animal that lives in the ocean, rivers or lakes. Note that marine/sea creatures live in salt water.
3 A predator hunts and kills other animals to eat while prey is the animal that a predator kills and eats. Think wolf (predator) hunting a rabbit (prey).
4 These share the same meaning, referring to the process of having babies.
Breed has a verb difference
She breeds prize-winning horses. (= transitive, has an object)
Puffins come to the island to breed. (= intransitive, no object)
