Appropriate Language
Damp (Adjective) = Slightly wet or moist, often in an unpleasant or cold way.
It was warm in the morning, but after the rainstorm it felt damp outside.
Humid (Adjective / Noun: Humidity) = This is scientific for having a high amount of water vapour in the air.
Summers in the Tokyo area are often very humid.
Muggy (Adjective) = Warm, damp, and suffocatingly oppressive weather. This is an informal, subjective word for when high humidity combines with high heat to make you sweat instantly.
Today will be muggy, you’ll want to avoid staying outdoor for long periods of time.
Thunder (Noun) = The loud, rumbling, or crashing noise heard after a lightning strike
We hurried inside the cabin as a loud clap of thunder shook the windowpanes and the sky turned a dark, bruised purple.
Lightning (Noun) = A massive spark with a brilliant flash of light and and shockwave after (thunder)
The old oak tree in the park was split clean in half after being struck by lightning during last night's storm.
