Words & Phrases

  • My mother had a lot of incomplete pictures and paintings.

    • She did mostly watercolours.

  • My mother collects a lot of knickknacks.

    • “Knickknacks” refers to small, decorative objects or trinkets, often items that are kept for sentimental value rather than practicality.

  • My family moved around a lot, so my parents had few things. It was easy to sort through their stuff after they passed.

  • I often see stray cats around my neighbourhood. Their clipped ears show they’ve been fixed.

Learning Languages

  • I think any of the Romance and Germanic languages with gendered nouns and verbs are complicated.

  • I have trouble sounding out words and sentences.

  • I find it easier to master a language by using a textbook.
